It’s been an exciting month at Defimons, as five new quests were launched and a ton of work continued behind the scenes on upcoming releases. Let’s take a quick look at what the dev team worked on this month:

Different Mechanics, Different Quests

The game development team took center stage throughout this month by deploying one quest every friday, each with a different game mechanic built within. This goes to show the variety of missions and quests that users can expect in the final game release.

Apartment Builder

The development of the Apartment Builder is in full pace. With features such as drag-and-drop furniture, multiple rooms, multiple wall and floor designs, we’re working hard on pushing out the alpha release for the apartment builder in May 2022.

Proximity Audio, Whiteboards, Screensharing

The frontend development team has been developing and testing features such as proximity audio, whiteboards, presentation mode and screensharing throughout the month. We’re happy to say that these features are in their final testing phase, and will be shipped as soon as Apartment NFTs have been minted and connected to the game.

PvE Battle System

The game design team has continously been working on the battle system, crafting system and adventures system for the past few months. More and more data is being added to our battle system for testing and its starting to take shape. We’re eager to share actual snippets from the battle system and will do so in next month’s development update.

New Backend & Contracts

During the testing of the first five quests, we noticed issues with the current backend system and the backend development team has been working on a more performant backend as well as database to store user data.

The solidity team has started implementing and testing out NFT contracts. We’re making our contracts omnichain compatible, making them tradable on multiple chains such as ETH, AVAX and more — allowing users to trade our NFTs on Opensea.

Monster Re-design

The art team has spent the past month redesigning our monsters, thanks to all valueble feedback from our community. This redesign gave us more freedom to experiment with designs, and overall feedback regarding new monsters has been great. We’ll keep listening to the community and improve wherever possible.

Map Art Variations

We’re currently in the phase of testing out various art styles for our game. Our main focus is to bring in nostalgia, but also have originality and freedom over our map and character design. We’ve gone under multiple changes and will continue testing and sharing our designs for feedback from the community.

Game Improvements

  • We’re working hard on reducing the overall build size of our frontend code, and have made huge improvements, with a total reduction of upto 40%. We’ll continue working in this area and work towards loading assets more dynamically.
  • We’ve pushed out over 7 original soundtracks, varying in multiple buildings and over multiple quests.

Thank you for being such an amazing and positive community, as always we’ll keep building in public and sharing regular information regarding the development of the game.

We’re working towards some big partnership announcements, so if you’re not already a member of our fast-growing family, join us on Discord or Twitter.
